I'm an artist and designer with a passion for animals and children's books. I studied at the Universities of Michigan and Washington art schools and have worked for over 25 years in commercial and fine art and design.
My artwork has been commissioned to hang in private homes, animal shelters and pediatric clinics. I am currently working on writing and illustrating my first picture book. My headquarters are the Fern Forest Studio located in the lovely Capitol Hill neighborhood above downtown Seattle, Washington.
In the spring of 2013 I worked through Allison Ross Fine Art Services and in collaboration with curator Diane Elliot of 3D Consulting LLC, Lisa Wendel, the CB Richard Ellis Project Manager to create 10 paintings for the Northgate Pediatric Clinic. The paintings are 20" x 24", acrylic on canvas. Nine of the paintings depict themes of animals at play. These are installed in each of the nine examination rooms at the clinic. The last painting is a floral landscape, created for the mother/infant visiting room.
From 2011 to present I have designed covers for a number of chapter books by author Michael de Guzman, including "Growing Up Rita," "Melonhead," "Beekman's Big Deal," "The Bamboozlers" and the soon to be published "Cosmos DeSoto and the Case of the Giant Steel TEETH."
I like to create artwork for specific environments and projects. My primary art mediums are acrylic or oil paint on canvas and opaque watercolor (gouache) on paper. For design and illustration projects, I often use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
